I settle in place, start teching Mysticism and building a work-boat while my warrior scouts out our land. On turn 8, I pop The Wheel (more about hut popping later). Shortly thereafter ...
... and we are away. To get my Great Priest (shrine or backup Theology lightbulb), I build Stonehenge after my second workboat, finally build a worker and then start on a settler.
By this point, my city has hit its cap at size 5. I put some hammers into my settler, whip it to completion for the cost of 2 pop points, then chop a forest into it for good measure. This gives me 60 hammers of production to flow into a settler that is already at 159 of the 149 required hammers. I put all of this overflow into a galley and send him around exploring. However, before Mr Galley goes look-see, I build a scout and plonk him on-board.
My second city ... specifically designed to try and pump out settlers. I think I had at least 1 settler in production in my empire from this point forward. I ended up building 33 of them. More about that later.
Mr Galley soon meets Isabella ... hmmn ... I'm not too happy about that because she just loves to expand, even on a water map. I might have to do something about that later.
So, while Mr Galley is out looking around, the trusty scout is also helping with a series of off boat, on boat actions. My capital is building the Oracle and my second city is just growing. Some scouting activity (and while I paused Mr Galley to pick him up) ...
On turn 112 (1200BC), after be-lining the required techs for Theology and putting some breaks on the Oracle, I finish the sucker and select Theology. My capital starts the AP (but flips various items in front of the AP along the way) while my other city is building settlers. My third city goes further West ...
I had marked 1 tile NW of that location as a city site but (after border expansion from my second city), I spotted some coastal tiles over the water. I'm waiting for a border pop so that Mr Galley can take a look West. He was way North and had a 12 turn sail to get back. I timed it very nicely to have him 1 turn away when the border popped. I also met JC.
At this stage of the game, the AP was in the bag, I had a few cities up and running who could pump settlers and galleys so I could start Phase II: Expansion.
