The first wrinkle is something that I wasn't sure I needed to fix, but I wasn't going to take the chance.
Napoleon, for reasons unknown .. even to himself, declares war on Victoria. Does he have the ability to transport troops? Does he have the troops? I'm pretty sure that this was just a phoney war so that he could get some techs from me.
Peace rules again.
The first AP Victory option came up on turn 293 (1365 AD). I got 276 votes. I needed 291 votes. Dang nab it ... 15 votes short. I set all of my cities to max growth and sent out missionaries to any of my colonies that were missing Hinduism in some cities.
The second AP Victory option came up on turn 307 (1435 AD). I got 324 votes. I needed 331 votes. Dang nab it squared! ... 7 votes short. I build a few more settlers and start looking around for city sites.
The third AP victory option came up on turn 335 (1575 AD). Wait - that isn't right. There should have been one in between.
In turn 320 (1500 AD), I met Suryavarman II. Who? Where did he come from? Willem had spun off his own colony. Ok, no problem with that. However, it does impact on my game. Willem took the last 'slot' with his colony and now the game is full - 18 civs, no more colonies. So, on turn 321 (1505 AD) the 'open borders' vote came up. No AP victory option? Hmm - Suryavarman II is Hindu ... what happened.
Willem spun Sury off as a Colony and he also spun off all of his Hindu cities. The rotten little twerp. I had to send one of my missionaries over there to re-convert him. Actually - this will help as Hammurabi was my opponent in the other votes and he voted for himself. Now Suryavarman II will be my opponent and I expect Hammurabi to vote for me.
Now Suleiman and JC are getting carried away. They both declare on Napoleon. I bribe Napoleon to settle the war with Sulieman for 5 techs (Drama, Music, Philo, Paper and Engineering) and bribe JC off Napoleon for Education. Gee I hope that Napoleon doesn't talk to JC for a while or JC will feel ripped off.
After several applications of starch to remove these wrinkles ...
11 people voted for me, so that is a BIG victory and 11 bonus points. Hmmn - shouldn't those points be doubled as I'm a full member of the AP?
