Space, the final frontier. I had a lot of teching to do ... all with only 1 library in my whole empire. And with bad relations with the other leaders, cutting down on the tech deals that I could do. I started resource trading, giving away techs and switching to their civics with the aim of improving my relationship with the AIs.
Part of the game plan was to get espionage buildings in all of my cities. With all of these buildings, each city could generate 44 EPs per turn. In the late game, I was able to generate 1500 EPs per turn with the EP slider at 0%. Also, with so many cities, I also put most of them to work building coin, allowing me to keep teching at 100%. That, wonder building and collecting Great People kept me on target for Space. I was pretty proud of my AI relationship rebuilding ... I was able to arrange a Defensive Pact with Elizabeth. Teching on the space techs and stealing the other techs certainly helped keep the game interesting.
Arrg - that is no good. Luckily I had tons of workers just sitting around doing nothing. I chained 15 together in bunches of 5 and turned my mature towns into workshops ... instant hammers.
You can also see the gold that I was pulling from the various specialists and shrines. I put wall street in Timbuktu - a nice little size 19 city making 200g per turn.
Seems I was set for a nice easy space victory ... except ...
I had some fun retaking my city, getting some naval support up there with some tanks and razing 3 Russian cities before I signed peace with Catherine. Seems she grabbed the tiger by the tail but just couldn't hang on.
So, easy space ship victory ... here I come!
