All Happiness is the Release of Internal Pressure

Game Report: Adv26 - Holiday Surprise (page 3 of 4)

So, Churchill has dialed up 'Mighty America' for help.

I finally decide to help him - not that I can do anything, just hoping to develop some mutual struggle bonuses and then getting peace down the track with China. As per the luck in this game, 1 turn later ... 1 flipp'n turn, both Caesar and Hammurabi make peace with Mao. I ask Mao for peace about every turn from now on in and he just laughs at me. At one stage he says "Not until we grind your American bones into the ground". Nice.

I get another really good event ... +1 food after the locals figure out the mating cycles of the turtles. You can see how this game hates me by the location of this event ... its on a tile that only 1 city can work and that city cannot build a lighthouse - terrific.

Another highlight of my game ... typically in scored games there are two way-points ... the transition from BC to AD and 1500AD. Well, here is my position for scoring purposes at 1500AD.

I try to beg for drama from Churchill but he isn't having a bar of it - so I steal it from him - yay, fun at last. But boy does it take ages for me to build up enough spy points to get anything worthwhile. I set up a caravel chain that can transport 1 spy from my shore to England's shore in 1 turn by swapping boats (yay, another fun part of the game that I hadn't done before) and have a stack of spies in England. Religion finally spreads to me in 1560 (turn 222) - woop de woop - my happy cap goes up to 6 (or was it 5). I didn't go the monarch happy route as the extra units would kill my economy.

And then the worst happens ...
