Game Report: Adv20 - Desert Domination (page 3 of 3)

First of all, I deleted almost all of my workers. I was actually using workers as fog busters, this works as well as any other unit providing you don't leave any (and I mean ANY) fog tiles. I did and so I lost a few workers to barbarian horse archers. I then culled my military, leaving only single units scattered across the map on fog busting (with teeth this time) duty - I think I only had 1 fog tile after this and that was covered by a couple of knights. Finally, I continued to settle Great Priests in Mecca and built all the money making city improvements I could. This got me back to +1 gold at 0% science. You can also see that Mecca had 2 shrines up and running but they were not generating much gold.

I then spent the next 25 turns working towards domination. By the start of 1650AD (turn 240), I had 20.79% of the land (required 68%). My population share was 79.17% (required 37%) so that wasn't a problem. I needed to grab more tiles and that meant cities. I think that I am ready to go, 1731 in the bank losing 6 gold per turn at 0% science - perfect!

By the end of 1650AD (turn 240), I had 47.27% of the land and by 1660AD (turn 242) I had 73.87% and my domination victory.

Here is what my 27 new cities looked like ... two artists (one free) enabling a border pop in 2 turns thus capturing those precious tiles that I needed for domination. Notice that my tech rate went way up as those artists were also contributing some beakers. Sure, my economy was at -323 gold per turn but I only needed to survive 2 turns before claiming my domination victory.

And just to round it all off, my economy at the end of the game and the final score wrap up.
