Game Report: Adventure 11 - Divided We [s]Fall[/s]Fell (3/3)

I continued trading goods to build good relationships ... or trying to. Here is where it started to go pear shaped ...

The inserts are Nappy's response to my NO.

What is with the cancelled corn deal ... I thought I said NO to that in the first place. Napoleon lands 3 units on my land ... I cannot remember the complete composition, but at least 1 of them was a knight (str 10). My best unit was a horse archer (str 6). Well, it took a few chariots (str 4), a rushed spear and a couple of horse archers to kill them off, but kill them off I did. I only lost some units and some pastures. That was the end of the conflict between myself and this team. Fortunately for me, Catherine who was dragged into this battle too, took the brunt of it and I saw landings by Bismark and Roosevelt ... well, at least Catherine and I are getting positive modifiers for sharing a military struggle. The downside is that you cannot sign a Mutual Alliance while in a state of war.

In 1540, it got just that little bit more interesting ...

Typical! Alex again doesn't read Sirian's rules . He didn't read them in Epic 7 (well, actually he did ... he never did land troops on my home island) and he didn't read them here. The 'rules' say that I cannot take or raze a city of a civ who starts on my continent ... surely this is 'off' now. Alex's war was a little more organized than Napolean, but not by much. He kept on sending silly little stacks (max 3 units) and I kept on killing them off. One trade that really helped with this was ...

I produced a stack of phants and cats and staged them all on Alex's border ... I was hoping that his losses would cause him to ask for peace. He would sign, but only for one of my cities. Typically, as soon as you take a city, you can ask for almost anything and the AI will give it (almost). They will at least sign peace in this situation. However, due to the rules of the game, this option was not open to me. Thus I had to wait until WW killed off Alex's desire. The only problem was that he wouldn't send me enough units to kill.

I kept teching towards my mutual alliance, fighting the war with Alex (he eventually came at me with Cavalry which was a little harder to deal with but not impossible) and checking on peace with Gandhi (team mate of Napoleon who was giving me the best 'deal' for peace). Here is his offer in 1590 ...

Well, that would get ME peace, but not Catherine. I contacted Catherine and asked her to sign peace with Gandhi and she said "Well, I would but they aren't interested" (or similar). That would mean that I would have to buy peace FOR Catherine FROM Gandhi - sheees

Alex's offer was constently ....

Its not going to happen. The situation ... give away my GP farm for peace with Alex, cripple myself economically for 10 turns for peace with Gandhi and then another 10 buying peace for Catherine. I am backwards in tech now, what will I look like in 20 turns time. Guess I am not stubborn enough

... RETIRED in 1725 after being at war for over 300 years.

Just to show that the mutual alliance was fairly much a lock ...

Wrap up ...
